PRIDE IN PLACE

The Government’s Pride in Place programme is a once-in-a-generation opportunity. 

284 neighbourhoods are receiving up to £20 million each to shape their future — with communities, through Neighbourhood Boards, setting priorities and directing investment. 

The ambition is clear: 
to create stronger neighbourhoods, thriving local economies and high streets, and places where people feel ownership and pride. 

But delivery is complex. 

Boards are being asked to: 

  • Build trust across communities and partners 

  • Translate community voice into investable plans 

  • Make high-quality decisions at pace

  • Deliver visible change in challenging environments 

Across the country, we are seeing a consistent challenge emerge: 

Many of these neighbourhoods have lived through years of decline and repeated programmes that have not delivered meaningful, lasting change. 

The task now is different.

It is about working alongside communities to: 

  • Rebuild confidence and raise ambition 

  • Help people understand what is possible 

  • Set a genuinely ambitious, long-term vision 

  • And develop the systems, leadership and capability needed to deliver — and to hold delivery to account

PROJECTS

HARLOW

Louise Brooks, 360 Degrees Society Place Strategist, formed part of the multidisciplinary team developing Harlow's ten-year Pride in Place Plan, leading on the community engagement workstream 

  • Multi-layered engagement with residents, stakeholders, young people and community organisations

  • Analysis and synthesis of community insight to inform the evidence base, emerging priorities and strategic case

Outcome:
A ten-year plan informed by community priorities and a strong evidence base, with clear links between engagement, strategy and proposed interventions.

RAMSGATE

Through Ramsgate Space CIC, 360 Degrees Society Consultant, Louise Brooks led the business engagement strand of Ramsgate's Plan for Neighbourhoods, helping to shape the town's ten-year vision and regeneration plan. 

  • Targeted engagement across the business community, from high-street businesses and SMEs to key employers

  • Facilitation, analysis and synthesis of local insight into structured evidence for the emerging Plan 

Outcome:
A business-informed evidence base identifying local priorities, challenges and potential interventions to support long-term regeneration. 

MORECAMBE

360 Degree Society is supporting the Morecambe West End Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board to build strong foundations for the programme and develop its approach to community-led Plan-making. 

  • Board formation and development focused on relationships, shared ambition, collective responsibility and effective ways of working

  • Community immersion bringing together the Board, Community Voice, Technical Advisory Panel and local organisations to explore evidence, lived experience, assets and opportunities

Outcome:
A stronger foundation for Plan development, with greater alignment between Board, community and technical perspectives and clear principles for the next stage of community engagement.
